My parents give each of my siblings and me a new devotional every Christmas. It’s a tradition I love, and this is one of my favorites. Everything Counts by Steven L. Case was revised in 2015, an adaptation for teens of the widely known book, My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers.
Providing 365 days full of thought-provoking notes and insights into the Bible and our daily lives as teens, it challenged me as a person, and reminded me that every thing we do counts. Every act, every word, and every second: all of it.
At the top of the page is the date, title of the devotion, and the verse that goes with it. Underneath is the main reading, short enough to get in first thing in the morning, yet profound enough to keep you thinking about it throughout the day. After that is a short selection from My Utmost for His Highest, from the corresponding day in that book. At the end, it leaves you with a sentence or two that sums everything up nicely and gives a challenge to change your upcoming day based on what you just read.
This is getting all 10 stars. It is adapted with teens in mind, and there’s nothing in it that points to anything but Christ.
I’m a teen, and I know that it can be hard to get devotions in during the day. But it’s one of the best ways to start the day, and incorporating it into your routine will change you life for the better!
The year is almost one-fourth of the way gone already, but it’s never to late to start a great habit! Don’t wait until next year, you can go check it out here! I loved Everything Counts, and I’m sure you will too! I one-hundred percent recommend it to everyone!
