In with the New

July has landed, and so has a stream of new updates and changes (truly this time) to the Lighthouse! We have a brand new design (which I love so much) and I’m also making some changes to the types of posts! This is the first of a brand new category of shorter encouragement-type posts! These’ll stay brief and give you something hopefully encouraging, inspiring, and thought-provoking.

So this morning, the very first phrase to come to my mind was, “A new creation.”

This is one of my very favorite bible verses. When we dedicate our lives to Christ and are baptized, it’s more than a public confession of our faith. It’s dying to who we were, and being given a second chance to be who God wants us to be. Now this next quote isn’t about this, but it really seems to suit quite well.

Who you were—it doesn’t matter. But what does matter is who we are now and what we do right now.

Some things, they’re hard to move on from. Trust me, I know. But life is more than dwelling on our past and all our mistakes. God forgives. It’s time to move on and look up. God’s given you a second chance, a new start, so no matter how many mistakes we make, it’s never too late for a clean slate. Let’s live like we’re changed! All that matters is who we are now, and what we do right now.
